Open Position: Director of Economic Development

Primary Function: The Director of Economic Development will work in concert with the President CEO to assist with business operations, strategic planning, and organizational policy. The other essential function of this position will be to Plan, Organize, and Direct Economic Development Initiatives that positively impact African American business opportunities through a coordinated process to cultivate opportunities for businesses to relocate or expand into the Fort Worth Metropolitan area and to ensure an active initiative to aid existing black business retention and expansion programs. Accountability: This position reports to the President & CEO.

Essential Duties:

  • Direct the management and services of economic development activities as outlined in the services contract between the FWMBCC and the City of Fort Worth.
  • Work with FWMBCC Economic Development Committee to ensure ongoing goals are being supported and provide proactive and reactive expertise for business recruiting initiatives.
  • Implement community visioning and economic development action steps as outlined in the General Development Plan of the FWMBCC.
  • Build relationships, assess needs, and conduct onsite visits with members and community allies.
  • Cooperate with local and (where appropriate) regional economic development initiatives.
  • Present FWMBCC strategic vision and goals to potential members and sponsors.
  • Partner with the FWMBCC team members to increase memberships, sponsorships and plan annual events.
  • Develop training programs to increase member MWBE certifications, financial acumen, and proposal writings skills.
